A family in Kerina village, in Kisii South sub-county, is appealing to both the county and national governments to help them bring their daughter’s body from Abudhabi in Saudi Arabia for burial.
The deceased who has been identified as Christine Momanyi is alleged to have committed suicide in Saudi where she has been working as a house help for the past two months.
According to the deceased’s mother Sibia Momanyi, the family cannot afford to raise the Sh350, 000 needed for their kin’s body to be flown to Kenya.
“ As a family we are really disturbed for losing our loved one in a foreign country and also frustrated for being unable to raise the funds needed to transport her body back for a decent sendoff," she lamented.
The deceased’s brother Edwin Momanyi also appealed to the relevant authorities to assist and also investigate the alleged suicide.
“I talked to my sister when she arrived in Saudia and she did not complain of anything. Something is amiss here and this is not the first incident to have happened in Saudi Arabia," he said.
They said so far they have only raised Sh50,000 and they are missing out Sh300,000 in order for them to ensure the body is brought back at home.
