A family at Thika town, Kiambu County, has asked the government to assist them in tracing the whereabouts of their son who was abducted by unknown men two weeks ago. According to the father of the youngster, Mr John Gitahi, his son Brian Kariuki, 30 was taken from a relative’s home in Eldoret by three people who forcefully pushed him into a vehicle on May 2, and he has not been seen or heard of since then. Gitahi who was speaking to the press in Thika town on Wednesday morning said that the family has experienced two weeks of torture as they don’t know if their son is still alive or not. “We have tried calling his phone but it is switched off,” said Gitahi adding that all they want to know is where their son is and if it is the police who took him he should be taken to court so that they could know what crime he is accused of. The distraught father said that his daughter who lives in Gatundu had recorded a statement at a Gatundu town main police station over the disappearance of the brother and police officers said they will investigate the matter. He said that his son is not a criminal and doesn’t have any issues with anyone. “My son has a disabled child for whom he was searching for funds to take to India for medication; he is God fearing and does not engage in any evil. I am not happy on the way Gatundu police are handling the matter and thus I now seek the government’s intervention,” he said. Gitahi, who is a teacher at the Gikindu Primary School, said that the government should intervene and sort out the issue.
