The family of Recce squad officer Dennis Momanyi who was killed Thursday by a disgruntled police officer in Kapenguria on Thursday have called on the government to help them during the funeral arrangements and also consider employing one of the family members.
Some of the family members who spoke to this writer on Saturday at their home in Sironga area, Bogichora ward Nyamira County, said Momanyi was the sole bread winner in whom they hoped in for a brighter future.
Led by his sister in-law Peninah Ogeto, said Momanyi had even promised to sponsor his young brother who scored a B- (minus) to further his university education.
She added that the death of Momanyi who was to celebrate his first month in marriage on July 17, has left them in shock.
"It is just a month ago when we celebrated his wedding which took place at Kegati. Unfortunately, he has left without celebrating his first month in marriage which is scheduled for tomorrow, July 17th," Peninah said.
“We are in dilemma since Momanyi was the family's sole bread winner after his parents struggled to educate him,” she added.
“We are appealing to the Government to help us with the funeral arrangements and even compensate us by employing one of the family members” she said
The family also challenged the Ministry of internal Security to consider youths when sending them to rescue missions such as the one in Kapenguria.
