A family from Getare village in Kisii County has appealed to the national government and the Kenya Defense Force (KDF) to help them find their missing son.
Their son disappeared right after the El-Adde attack in Somalia.
According to the father, Sylvester Maocha, they have been in a dilemma since January 15 this year when they heard about the attack in Somalia after they talked with their son a day after the attack.
“It was on January 14, 2016 when my son called me and told me they were doing good and promised to call two days later but unfortunately on the 15, we heard news that they have been attacked,” Maocha said.
He added that immediately they tried to contact their son he was unreachable. Maocha then contacted the Eldoret headquarters who instructed to go for further updates on the matter. The talks, however, bore no fruit.
The family is now appealing to the national government to help them to understand what is going on since they don’t know whether their son was among those who died.
“We are in darkness since this boy was the bread winner of the family and since his disappearance, many things have failed but we hope that the truth will soon be revealed,” said Maocha.
Maocha added that when the family tries to call the son, his number is always off.
