A family in Gatundu South has threatened to sue the Thika Level 5 Hospital over negligence and unprofessionalism.
The family of the late Rose Waithera said they will sue the hospital for allegedly failing to properly attend to her when she was giving birth.
Mwangi Kanyingi, the deceased's brother, claimed that the doctors at the facility neglected Waithera, leading to her death.
"The doctors who attended to my sister damaged her intestines during a cesarean delivery. Even after she developed breathing problems, the medics ignored her, leading to her death," said Kanyingi.
He claimed that the doctors later lied to the family members that a postmortem exam that was conducted at the hospital revealed that the cause of death was ulcers.
"My sister was not sick as claimed by the doctors because she was well throughout the period she was pregnant. We are shocked that she died of ulcers. What we need is justice for Rose because the doctors neglected her causing her premature death," added Kanyingi.
He argued that the doctors at the facility are unprofessional and called upon the relevant authorities to sack and arrest them.
Reached for comment, Kiambu County Health CeC Joseph Murega assured the family that his department has launched investigations into the matter.
Murega called on the family members to exercise patience as they wait for investigations to be completed.
