A family from Gachuba ward in Keumbu has called upon the government to expedite apprehension of a kin who allegedly stabbed his brother over a land dispute.

Speaking on Tuesday during the burial of Mr Jonathan Kemoni, speakers accused the local administration of conspiring with the accused, Mr Alloys Motari, to make an escape to evade the rule of law.

According to them, the suspect was an ex-convict after being released from Manyani prison where he served for 14 years for robbery with violence and rape between 2000 and 2014 after which he was released.

“He is a murderer and was an ex-convict. He has now killed his own brother on an issue that we would have solved as a family. We demand that he is arrested to face the law for committing such an inhuman act,” said Mr Haron Oiko.

They also asked the government to investigate the conduct of area Boisamero sub-chief, Antony Mainge, for allegedly failing to represent the government adequately by arresting the suspect.

“Government officials have an obligation to take care of residents and we wonder why the chief hesitated to take an action despite being aware of what had happened,” added Mrs Mary Mogire.

It is alleged that Mr Motari invaded the compound of the deceased and hacked him to death over allegations that the deceased had tempered with boundaries of their land.
