A family in Ndandani village, Mwala sub-county of Machakos county has been left distraught after their eight-year-old daughter died from a snake bite.
The standard three kid was bitten while playing in school with her friends.
Gregory Nzwili the girl's father appealed to the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to compensate the family for their loss.
He said that officers from KWS are yet to visit the area concerning the issue.
“We expect the officers to come and give us the way forward on compensation and teach people on how to co-exist with poisonous snakes," said Nzwili.
He noted that her daughter was bitten on the hand Wednesday at the school's workshop as she played with her friends.
The girl was rushed to Mwala level four hospital for first aid and then referred to Machakos level five hospital.
According to the parents, Machakos hospital didn't attend to their case with the weight it deserved thus leading to the death of their daughter.
“After going back home, her hand got swollen and she got feverish, I rushed her to Mwala hospital where the doctors recommended she be put on oxygen and referred us back to Machakos level hospital," narrated Peninah Nzwili, the girls' mother.
The girl is said to have died on the way back to the hospital.
