Speaking today, Monday at Flamingo Ward, Nakuru Town East Constituency, the tenants said that they are being exploited by the county government.

“We pay rents but the service being delivered does not meet our expectations,” said Joe Otieno, a tenant

“Since I moved here in 1990, these houses are hardly renovated,” claimed Mary Owiti.

Flamingo Ward MCA Moses Gichangi urged the county government to respect the tenants’ wishes.

“The county government has a role to provide decent houses to tenants,” said Gichangi.

The civic leader said that the deplorable state of the houses has subjected tenants to untold suffering.

“These houses are unfit for human habitant and tenants are suffering terribly,” said Gichangi.

Gichangi further added that it is the basic right for every tenant to have a decent shelter, and urged the county government to move swiftly to address the deplorable states of the houses.

He however urged tenants to pay rents in time to enable the county government discharge its duties effectively.
