The five time Ballon d’Or winner amazed many when he stopped his team mates at the tunnel, for a crucial meeting. The Barcelona star stopped them when they were making their way back onto the pitch before giving them a less than 30 seconds talk, full of signs.

Messi had put Argentina ahead in the first half from a long Ever Banega ball, which he brilliantly cooled on his right foot before smashing it home.

The Argentina team, ended the first half with a one goal up against Nigeria, who only needed a draw to proceed to the knock out stage.

The talk seemed to have changed them as they entered into the second half energized and full of confidence. They gave Nigeria a hard time defending.

Unfortunately, a mistake made by Javier Mascherano during a corner kick earned Nigeria a penalty, through the help of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Nigeria and Chelsea’s left back, Victor Moses curled it home sending the goalie the wrong direction to equalize Messi’s opener.

Argentina fought back to win the match from a late strike at the 86th minute, when Marcos Rojo calmly curled a cross into the net.
