Former deputy speaker Farah Maalim has issued an apology for engaging in a physical fight with former Somali Telecommunication minister Mohamed Mursa.

He issued the apology on Monday during an interview on NTV.

“No politicians feel good about such an incident, and it is an action that I, my family and community apologize, we are apologizing to the community,” said Maalim.

The reason for the misunderstanding was not revealed during the interview.

Maalim was involved in a fight with Mursa at the Serena over the weekend and it took the intervention of security personnel and customers for the two to be separated.

The series of events were captured on CCTV footage which went viral on the social media.

Maalim said that the issue is being handled by the community elders and that the matter will not be pursued legally even though Mursa had initially reported at Kileleshwa police station.
