Former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim was on Friday involved in a fight with ex-Somali Telecommunication minister Mohamed Mursa.
The cause of the fight that occurred at Serena Hotel has not been established but investigations are underway.
In a CCTV footage, the two are seen being separated by customers and security personnel at the hotel.
It is not clear what transpired outside the hotel after the two were escorted out as the CCTV cameras are not mounted all over premises.
Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam said the matter was being investigated after Mursa filed a complaint at Kileleshwa police station in Nairobi.
“The CCTV footage will be compared with the witnesses statements that will help come up with an appropriate outcome, action will be taken after these. You will be able to receive a comprehensive statement after the outcome ,” said Katam.
Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome confirmed that the issue will be handled by diplomatic police officers since it involved a foreigner.
"Such matters involving top government officials from other countries can only be handled diplomatically," said Koome.
