Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has vowed to challenge the High Court decision to uphold the election of Garissa Town MP Aden Duale.

In the ruling delivered on Tuesday at Mlimani Court, Justice Hedwig Ongundi dismissed the case, slapping the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly with Kshs. 6 million in costs.

According to the Judge, the petitioner had failed to convince the court that the election was marred by irregularities such as voter.

But Maalim swiftly dismissed the ruling, stating that he would move to the Court of Appeal to challenge.

" I will appeal against the judgment of this high court on my petition. Aluta continua, " he tweeted.

Maalim, Mr. Duale's local rival has had many ups and downs in his political life. Having been elected Lagdera MP in 1992, he lost the seat in 1997, went in to spend the next 10 years in the political cold, only to make a comeback in 2007. 

However, he lost to Yusuf Haji in the Senatorial race in 2013.And in 2017, he challenged Duale for the MP seat but lost. It's now unclear what the future holds for the veteran politician in the world of politics.
