He hes challenged the new leadership in the 12th Parliament to unite the country.] (Thestar)Former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim has put to task individuals who will be elected to steer the 12th Parliament saying the buck will stop with them on matters national healing.
The former Lagdera MP who is also in contention for the senate speaker position said Wednesday that the new House must live up to the expections of the Kenyans and bring them together just like he and the then speaker Kenneth Marende did to rally the nation together following an acrimonious general elections in 2007.
" The senate and National Asembly leadership has ti heal the country which is seemingly too divided.They must strive to emulate what the 10th parliament did when speaker Marende and I rejected partisan politics to bring together a country that was at the verge of disintegrating following an acrimonious election", he added.
The Wiper party deputy leader also promised to oversee an an effective senate committed to addressing devolution matrers and conducting its affairs with dignity should he be elected as the next speaker on Thursday.
He was speaking in an interview with NTV on Wednesday.
