A farmer is counting losses after his two cows were poisoned to death.
The incident happened on Friday at Nyamboga village in Nyatieko, Mosocho Kisii County.
The suspects who killed the cows are yet to be identified but already the police have kicked off their investigations.
"The cows were the only source of income I had and now that they have died it means that I will have to start afresh," said Ambroce Mekenye the owner.
He said that he bought the two cows at a total of Sh120,000.
"I suspect that my neighbor might be involved because he complained that my cows fed on his kales in the garden," he said.
The veterinary officer said he took samples to determine the type of poison the cows were given.
“I could not tell the exact poison the cows were given but I took samples which I will test and establish the type of poison the cows consumed,” he said.
He also said that he stopped locals from feeding on the cows as they were planning to do.
