A farmer from Magombo, Manga sub-county is counting losses after his sugar cane farm was burnt on Wednesday.
According to the farmer, Edward Machoni, he was grazing his cattle before he saw large smoke coming from his half acre sugarcane farm and when he rushed to the firm, he found the sugarcane up in flames.
He said his efforts to stop the fire from spreading were unsuccessful even after getting help from neighbours.
The farmer said the sugarcane which he planted for commercial is no more and is counting losses.
He however said the source of the fire so far has not been identified.
He appealed to well wishers to come to his aid and help him replant the sugarcane.
Confirming the incident the area elder Isaac Basweti said they have already called the chief so that he can make sure the cause of the fire is identified.
