A Murang'a based farmer, Stanley Ngugi Kinuthia has filed an application seeking to stop the appointment of Matu Wamae as the New KCC chairman.
Kinuthias' application argues that Wamae,78 years old has already attained the required retirement age and therefore should vacate the office.
According to Kinuthia, court papers filed by Muriu, Mungai & Company advocates, there is no record that the vacancy for the position of chairperson in which Wamae was appointed had been advertised to the public either by President Uhuru or the Public Service Commission.
Wamae, who started off as chairman following his appointment by the then Ministry of Cooperative Development and Marketing has served as chairman as well as member of the New KCC board since 2005.
President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him as the New KCC chairperson with an effect from January 1, 2017 for three more years.
"There is no public record of the criteria or qualifications that were used to select and appoint Mr. Wamae as chairperson of New KCC board," Kinuthia said.
