Led by the county's Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) director Kipkorir Menjo, the farmers lamented that despite a promise from the DP that they will be paid within a week, nothing had been done yet.

"As farmers from the region we are really disappointed with the Deputy President because he promised that Sh2 billion would be released by Thursday last week to pay us but as I am talking we have not received even a single cent," said Menjo in Eldoret town, Sunday.

Menjo wondered why the government was playing 'the cat and mouse games' with farmers yet are the ones who feed the nation.

"We want to call upon the DP to get serious and deliver his promise with immediate effect. Surely how do they expect the country to be food secure if farmers issues are not solved?" added Menjo.

He challenged the Deputy president to stop using farmers to get political mileage but instead help to solve their unending problems.

Menjo revealed that farmers from the region were considering quitting planting maize and wheat due to the unending frustrations they are always subjected to.
