Uasin-Gishu farmers have been urged to venture into farming other cash crops in order to avoid over depending on maize solely.
Speaking from his office on Monday, the CEC of Agriculture, Livestock Development & Fisheries Cyril Cheruiyot said that the county is ready to support farmers who choose to venture into other types of cash crop farming.
"Farmers should invest their efforts into planting cash crops such as pyrethrum," said Cheruiyot.
He added that the county will partner with other counties to provide market for the cash crops. He further advised the farmers who have not harvested their crops to do so early in order to avoid the effects of the anticipated El nino rains.
"It will soon be raining heavily so farmers should use this time to harvest and dry their crops," he said.
