Led by the Kenya Farmers Association Director Kipkorir Menjo, the farmers they said despite many calls to NCPB to pay them their dues, nothing has been done. "I want to urge CS Mwangi Kiunjuri to come to our rescues since farmers are suffering and yet it’s nearing planting season and some farmers have not prepared their fields by acquiring farm inputs," Menjo said in Eldoret town, Wednesday."You cannot frustrate farmers and talk of being food secure at the same time unless there is a deliberate attempt to ensure that there will be a low yield this year to facilitate more imports which enrich some cartels in the upper echelons," he added. The farmers further hit out at the Jubilee government for failing to keep their promise of reducing fertilizer prices."President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto promised farmers that once elected they will reduce subsidized fertilizer prices from the current Sh1,800 to Sh1,200. We want them to reduce the prices since it was their promise to us," noted Menjo. To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your WhatsApp number to 074094990.
