Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan says this will help the farmers in curbing pests and diseases that they faced during last year's planting season.Speaking at an Eldoret hotel when opening the Kenya Meteorological Society international conference on Tuesday, Hassan expressed the need to protect and conserve environment warning that climate change was affecting the country's food production and economy."Our scientists will be able to discuss means of assisting us in coming up with remedies to contain pests,' he said.The County Commissioner reaffirmed his office's commitment to working with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) and the Meteorological Department to foster the better environment."Climate change is an international issue which needs to be discussed among all stakeholders in all world," Hassan noted.Speaking during the conference, the Kenya meteorological society chairperson, Stella Aura said the researchers have conducted and shared with the county director of the meteorology key findings that would ease in the dissemination of the information concerning climate.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your WhatsApp number to 074094990.
