A section of farmers who planted maize and beans two weeks ago have raised their frustrations about the failure of their crops to germinate due to lack of enough water.

According to the affected farmers from Maseno, Chulaimbo and Ojolla they planted the crops after experiencing about three days of rain.

"When it started raining, I thought it was time to plant together with other farmers we decided to plant, but we did not know this will be the end results," said Christopher Ogolla.

Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, they said that the loses incurred were not budget for and starting afresh with the planting process will be hard for them.

"I used a lot of money in buying seeds, fertilizer and labour to carry out the planting, I don't have any other source of income that will enable me to plant again," said Paul Omondi.

A majority of the affected farmers are mostly scale who plant twice a year say that they might be forced to go without food in preparation of the next planting season.

"With this happening now it is going hard to plant afresh, though a number of crops has germinated, we will bank on it and wait for the next season which is in june because we cannot afford planting again," said Monicah Akumu a farmer in Maseno.
