Farmers are counting losses after army worms invaded farms and destroyed crops in Tana River.
A farmer, Omar Kofa, decried that he lost watermelons worth more than Sh200,000 after the army worms invaded his four acre land.
Farmers have accused the county agricultural experts of neglecting small scale farmers in the county who relies on small farming activities.
Kofa said he had sort help on proper pesticides and measures tp deal with the pests but the county agricultural experts did not pay him a visit as they had promised him.
"The insects invaded the land and destroyed all the watermelons. I did not save anything since the officers did not visit my farm as they promised to help me decide on a better pesticides to spray the insects," he said.
