Farmers have been falling over themselves to deliver maize to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) following an increase in the price of the commodity.NCPB has already bought an estimated 1.6 million bags of maize from farmers at a cost of 5.12 billion shillings.''We will strive to pay farmers as promptly as possible. This will be done as soon as we receive funds from the government,'' Titus Maiyo, NCPB's Corporate Affairs Manager said.Maiyo revealed that the government was keen on dealing with unscrupulous farmers by weeding them out.
