Farmers in Uasin Gishu County have expressed mixed opinions as to whether the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett should be retained by President Uhuru Kenyatta when he reconstitutes his cabinet or not.
While a section of farmers say the current CS should be retained, there's a group who are of the opinion that he did not perform his duties effectively.
"I don't see anything wrong with Willy Bett. He has been able to manage the agriculture docket very well since his appointment in 2015," said Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) Uasin Gishu branch director Kipkorir Menjo.
"He (Willy Bett) did not do anything to transform the Agriculture sector. We want a CS who can perform the way Matiang'i has done to education," said Kipkoech Kiborit, a farmer from Moiben sub-county.
Bett replaced Felix Koskei who had been suspended over graft allegations. He was the Kenya Seed Managing director before his appointment in the Agriculture ministry.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to make several changes in his new cabinet dropping the nonperforming CS's while at the same time rewarding political allied who lost during the August 8 general elections.
