Marani District tea farmers have hailed the national government for removing the tax on tea.

According to them, this is the first time the government has shown transparency and hope to make a bumper harvest which will translate to more profits.

Addressing journalist in Marani town, tea farmers led by Justus Kangwana hailed the government for their decision to exempt the cash crop from taxation. 

The CS for Finance Henry Rotich read the budget on Wednesday whereby tea farmers are not going to be taxed like before.

“We laud our government for removing the tax from tea, let the government continue helping us,” said Kangwana.
