Led by the Uasin Gishu Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) Director Kipkorir Menjo, they said despite now being the planting season farmers have not been paid their dues as well as they have not received enough fertilizers.

“As farmers from this region we are really disappointed with the Jubilee administration, why are they frustrating us by not paying us our over Sh3 billion National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) owes us," lamented Menjo in Eldoret town, Saturday.

The farmers now want President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to intervene.

They further revealed that they were contemplating ditching maize farming for other crops like potatoes.

"A lot of promises have been made by the Agriculture CS as well as Members of Parliament in the Agriculture Committee but nothing has been done so far," said Menjo.

Majority of farmers were forced to look for funds from alternative means after NCPD delayed to pay their produce. The farmers also had to use expensive planting fertilizer after the subsidized one was not availed on time by the government as expected.
