Farmers across Kisii County have been advised to venture into passion fruit farming, considering the climatic conditions in the area favour them.

According to Darius Mogeni, KARI representative in Kisii, there are many farmers in the county who have already adopted passion farming and are currently earning big from the fruit, and called on all farmers to practice the same.

Mogeni added that a recent research done by KARI indicated that Kisii has the best climatic conditions for the fruit, giving the area an upper hand.

He further noted that they have already visited more that 50 farmers who have started growing the fruit, and are enjoying good yields so far.

“In Kisii, there is a ready market, and there is demand for the passion fruit across the country, I would like to advise every farmer that venturing into this kind of farming is a loss-free business,” cited Mogeni.

He added that passion fruit farming is gaining popularity in Kenya, but access to information on management of orchards and poor market access stand in the way of many farmers.

She however noted that they are ready to giver every little detail to farmers who need help in starting the business in Kisii County.
