Pyrethrum growers in Nakuru County have expressed optimism in the revival of the sector.
They called on the county government to boost farmers with certified planting material ahead of the planting season.
Pyrethrum Growers Association chairman Justus Monda said farmers are ready to venture back into the sector.
He said corruption and general mismanagement killed the farming.
Mr. Monda added that ‘unfriendly' regulations had locked out many interested parties hence the slow revival of the sector.
He called on county governors from 18 pyrethrum growing areas to hold a stakeholders meeting in order to chat the way forward.
“If the national government gives pyrethrum the seriousness it deserves farmers will benefit since no other cash crop since 1990s has overtaken the benefits gained by pyrethrum," he said.
