According to Ahmed Abdikarim, who is the ASDSP coordinator, the advisories given to the farmers indicated that the months of September, October and November could experience very short rains.

He observed that the expert advice was distributed to farmers and pastoralists in seven sub-counties, which unfortunately, nothing much was done on the information.

Abdikarim added that farmers and pastoralists in the northern regions will continue facing challenging times if it does not rain in the few coming days.

He reiterated that residents of such areas as Garissa, Mandera and Wajir should take caution and early intervention measures, including removing their water pump sets along the rivers as well as harvesting ready food crops along the river banks.

Abdikarim noted that it is only such advisories that can assist farmers in scaling down their routine activities in case the rains fail.
