Farmers in Ahero on Tuesday received free fertilizer from the county government.
The fertilizers were distributed to farmers by agricultural extension officers at the ward administrators' offices.
This comes barely a month after the county government distributed certified seeds to the farmers.
One of the officers said the initiative of providing free and subsidized inputs is part of the county programme dubbed 'County Accelerated Agricultural Input Access.'
The programme is aimed at enhancing food security and increase farmers' income in the county by promoting good agricultural practices.
One of the beneficiary, Mr Elijah Owino, expressed joy and gratitude to the county government for the support.
"It is a great initiative, and as farmers we are grateful and happy," said Elijah.
Each farmer received at least 25 kilograms of DAP or CAN fertilizer.
