A Delegation from the Toyota Tsusho fertilizer factory on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno's office.
The Eldoret factory, a consortium of world's motor manufacturer, set up a fertilizer blending factory in Eldoret.
The company's officials paid a courtesy visit at the deputy governor's office as they seek support in sensitizing farmers on the benefits of using blend fertilizer.
Toyota Tsusho blends its fertilizer brand, Baraka Fertilizer, a type of manure which is soil and location specific.
While explaining the importance of blended fertilizer, the delegation cited advantages that comes especially when one applies to any type of a crop.
Chemno appreciated that the Baraka Fertilizer has brought good tidings in the cereals growing business.
"I know of one farmer who has increased his harvest from 28 to 41 bags of maize after using this type of blended fertilizer," said Chemno.
"It is good also to go round the North Rift region and capture farmers interests after teaching and showing them samples of commodities," he added.
Chemno also said soils in most of North Rift region are 'tired' and acidic, therefore, it is crucial to embrace the use of blend fertilizer.
"It does even well on fruits since it has a large percentage of potassium compared to other fertilizers," said one of the company's representative.
