This is through a program dubbed ‘County accelerated Agricultural Input Access’  which is keen on enhancing food security and increase the income of farmers in the county by promoting good agricultural practices for improved productivity.

Governor Jack Ranguma said in a press statement on Friday that they are keen at assisting it farmers with fertilizers, seeds and extension services to realize their vision of enhanced food security.

“My government is keen on supporting poverty reduction strategy projects in agriculture and has embarked on several programs to support this," he said.

He challenged residents to change their attitude and embark on agricultural practices by taking advantage of subsidized fertilizers and seeds from the National Cereals and Produce Board( NCPB) depots in the county to improve the supply and quality of their produce.

Philip Obade, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries encouraged farmers to form co-operatives as it would be easier to work with them for the provision of services.

Obade said they should also liaise with their respective ward agriculture extension officers where they will get certified notifications which will enable them purchase fertilizers from the NCPB at subsidized rates.
