The newly opened Kiambu county deport in Gatundu  will start receiving the farmers’ fertilizers in the next two weeks according to the Agriculture executive member Monicah Waiganjo advising the farmers to go buy the subsidized fertilizer from there.

Waiganjo said in an exclusive interview from her office yesterday where she revealed that the county government of Kiambu is set to purchase fertilizers worth Sh. 65 million which will be disbursed to small scale farmers, large scale farmers and agriculture-oriented groups.

“Kiambu is set to purchase fertilizers worth Sh. 65 million which will be disbursed to small scale farmers, large scale farmers and agriculture-oriented groups. , the county venture fully into the farming which has proved productivity in the better areas which received enough rainfall and also since we have availed irrigation water to the residents.” The CeC explained

The executive member said that she will ensure despite the changes in climate, the county venture fully into the farming which, according to her, has proved productivity in the better areas which received enough rainfall.

She added that the farmers in the semi-arid areas who have been experiencing the challenges in the food security as the soil is of very poor productivity will benefit from the green houses and plans are underway to launch a water system to help them irrigate their crops in the small scale production of the crops.

She further said that the residents will start benefitting from such poverty alleviation projects to enable them look into the future with more confidence.
