Farmers in Uasin Gishu have condemned Jubilee Party legislators for ousting Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren as the Agriculture and Livestock Committee chair in the National Assembly.
Led by Kenya Farmers Association Director Kipkorir Arap Menjo, the farmers said the move was meant to hurt farmers.
“As farmers from this region we are really disappointed with Jubilee legislators for removing Silas Tiren as the Agriculture committee chair, why did they remove him yet he was duly elected? Surely how can someone from North Eastern help farmers,” Menjo said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.
“This is unfair since we voted Tiren as Moiben MP to represent farmers in parliament and his removal is a big blow to farmers not only in Uasin Gishu but countrywide,” he added.
