Farmers in Njoro have been urged to work closely with Egerton University students to reap maximum benefits from the institution’s rich agricultural resources.
This was said on Monday by the director of Board of Undergraduate Studies and Field Attachments Prof James Owino when he addressed participants during a Stakeholders’ Workshop for Field Attachment of Students on Farms.
Prof Owino noted that Egerton University has been recognized nationally and worldwide as a leading agricultural training institute hence local farmers and other stakeholders stood good chances of reaping maximally through having close links with the university.
“I encourage our local farmers and other stakeholders to work closely with Egerton University because as neighbours you stand better chances of reaping maximum benefits from the university’s rich resources in the field of agriculture,’’ said Owino.
At the same time the director thanked the stakeholders for their continued support for the university’s students’ needs for field attachment and observed that the university would do all it can to support the stakeholders meet their day to day needs in appreciation.
He announced that the stakeholders’ workshop will be an annual event and will be addressing diverse issues including new research on farming and crop varieties.
