Kenya Farmers Association Uasin Gishu County chairman Kipkorir Arap Menjo has urged the national government through the Ministry of Agriculture to speed up the process of buying maize from farmers.

Speaking in his office on Friday, Menjo said the process of buying maize from farmers was slow.

“The cereals and produce board should speed up buying maize from farmers," he said.

He said there were farmers who had spent over two weeks queuing to deliver maize at the National Cereals and Produce Board.

“I urge the national government through the Ministry of Agriculture to open an alternative National Cereals and Produce Boards store in a place like Mois Bridge and Kitale for farmers to take their produce their to ease congestion," he said.

He urged the national government through the Ministry of Agriculture to hire more staff which will enhance speedy delivery of farmers produce without delay.
