Speaking in his office on Thursday, Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno said it's sad that there are some families who still don't know the whereabouts of their relatives.

"The national government must come clear and tell the affected families if their loved ones perished in the recent Al Shabaab attack," he said.

He said most of them are living a very painful life since they do not know whether their relatives are alive or dead.

Chemno also called on the government to compensate families of the deceased soldiers because they died while protecting the country.
