The ill-fated Cessna C208 FlySAX airplane recently crashed in Aberdare Forest while it was heading to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. However, as Kenyans continue to mourn, we look at the most Kenyan fatal air accidents of all time:
1. KQ flight 431 carrying 179 people
On 30th January 2000, Kenya Airways flight 431 carrying 179 people with 169 being passengers crashed in the Atlantic Ocean near Ivory Coast. All passengers on board died following the crash. It establishes itself as Kenya's worst air accident and one of the worst in the world aviation.
2. Boeing 737-800 killing114 people on board
The Boeing 737-800 airliner plunged into a mangrove swamp on a stormy night minutes after taking off from Douala, Cameroon. The airplane crashed after loss of control by the crew as a result of spatial disorientation.
3. The helicopter killing 42 at Kaloleni
In 1992, 46 people, among them 20 servicemen, died when their military helicopter crashed in Kaloleni. Six more soldiers on the ground also perished.
4. Marsabit plane crash in 2006
In April 2006, 14 people died when their plane crashed in Marsabit as it attempted to land due to bad weather.
