Residents of Tangi Tano in Gilgil sub-county were left in shock after a 35-year-old man killed his six years old daughter and badly injured another after a disagreement over a glass of milk.
The suspect identified as Patrick Muiruri later surrendered to the police as the mother and the injured child are admitted at Nairobi Women’s hospital Nakuru branch receiving treatment.
“It is so sad to see a grown up man killing his own children. I have raised him alongside my other three children which am regretting for what my son has become. His heinous act is the talk of the town and I cannot believe what he did,” Mary Wanjiru, the mother of the suspect said.
According to witnesses, Muiruri killed his daughter after arriving home and arguing over a glass of milk which had been reserved for their younger daughter.
“The suspect came to where we were having a kesha a short distance from their home. He asked me to go with him to take their daughter to the hospital. Upon getting to the house, the child had already succumbed to the injuries inflicted on her using a hammer. The other child, aged one had just ran away with their mother after she was badly burnt,” the suspect’s mother narrated.
The suspect, who residents claim has being smoking bhang for long, is now held at the Nakuru Police station alongside his accomplice who is alleged to be a bhang peddler.
He was arraigned in court on Monday where the court ruled that a medical test be carried out to determine his sanity.
