A Kisumu man has been sentenced to two years imprisonment after being found guilty of killing his wife, without an intention of doing so.
Bernard Oduko was first arrested and charged for murder, but the charge was reduced to manslaughter after the Kisumu high court heard that he suffers from mental illness.
The court heard that on the material day, Bernard Oduko stabbed his wife Margret Oduko fifteen times on different parts of the body, at their home in Milimani Estate, Kisumu City.
The crime was committed on October 05, 2017. The two year sentence was given by Judge David Majanja.
The deceased wife and the husband were blessed with three children, the eldest being among students who sat for Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE) this year.
