A father to one of the students who died in a grisly road accident along Kisii-Kilgoris road on Friday night has termed his deceased son ‘God fearing and bright’ in an exclusive conversation with the reporter.

Master Duncan Nyanaro, an engineering student at Dedan Kimathi University is among eight people who were pronounced death in a tragic accident that took lives of six university students.

And Mr Evans Mamboleo expressed his shock and disbelief on hearing the news of his only son when one of her daughters broke the news following pictures circulated in social media.

“I am deeply shocked with the untimely demise of my son. He was such a God fearing man and exceptionally bright. He passed well from Maranda High and all this time I have never associated him with bad company,” he said.

“We had a lengthy phone conversation on Friday evening moments before the accident and he assured me that all was well on campus. He never mentioned that he was away from school and I trusted him. It’s sad and one of my lowest moments in life,” he added.

Mamboleo also revealed that the deceased son had promised to excel from the school of Engineering moments after declining a proposal to have some pocket money sent to him.

“He declined to have me send him some pocket money saying he had enough and actually promised to work hard and excel from the school of engineering,” he said.

One of the survivors Mercy Nyambeki had revealed that Nyanaro was driving at the time the accident took place during her interview with the media at Kisii Teaching and Referral.
