A man who was convicted of repeatedly defiling his two daughters collapsed after a Kiambu court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Kiambu Resident Magistrate Monica Kivuti found Boniface Macharia Muthoni guilty of defiling his own children who he had threatened to kill if they disclosed his heinous habit.
The accused who had appeared composed throughout of the session collapsed as soon as the magistrate mentioned the word “life”. Police officers had to whisk him away into the cells for medical attention.
Muthoni had been charged with intentionally and unlawfully defiling his 17 and 14-year-old daughters on September 9, 2013 at Kiwanja village in Kasarani division.
The 17-year-old girl told the court that her father lured her to his bedroom and forcefully defiled her while her mother was away but she later confided the incident to her teachers who reported the matter to the police.
The court heard that the accused went missing from their home for two days, before his notified the police of his presence when he later showed up and was arrested.
The 14-year-old girl who was the first victim had been raped earlier, but had not revealed this to her sister.
The two girls only managed to share their ordeal after the first born was raped when their mother was away from home.
She told the court that he at one time sprayed and intoxicated the girls with a strange concoction that produced a foul smell that made them dizzy and unable to wake up despite the commotion. She added that her father at another instance raped her inside her mother’s hotel which was opposite their house.
He however pleaded with the court to have mercy on him, saying his wife had framed him so as to disinherit him.
He was given 14 days to appeal.
