Resident magistrate Judicaster Nthuku said that witnesses who testified in court proved that the father of six committed the offence.

“The accused’s actions are beastly and they should be condemned in the strongest terms possible. l therefore sentence him to life imprisonment,” the magistrate said.

Wanyoike Kariuki had pleaded guilty to the charges when he was charged in court. The incest charges against him stated that on March 4 2012, he defiled the minor at Mau Narok trading centre in Njoro sub-county after her mother – a casual labourer went to work.

The accused also faced an alternative charge of indecently touching the minor’s private parts. The court heard that the accused lured the victim into his room with biscuits, then locked the door before he proceeded to commit the act.

The girl’s aunt, who testified in court, said the little girl disclosed to her that her father had defiled her.

“She reached me silently and told me that her father had done ‘tabia mbaya’ to her,” said the aunt.

A medical examination report presented in court by Dr Justus Nondi of the Rift Valley General hospital revealed that the minor had been defiled.

The accused pleaded for leniency but the court said the magnitude of the offense was large as the rights of the child had been abused.
