A middle-aged man and his 7-year-old son are nursing serious injuries at the Nakuru County hospital.
The two, who hail from a village in Koibatek, Baringo County, were referred to the hospital with serious body injuries after a reported suicide attempt.
According to police reports, the man killed his wife before frogmarching the minor into their main house where he splashed him with kerosene and set him ablaze.
The two were, however, luck as neighbors heard cries of the boy and stormed the house to rescue them.
Eldama Ravine police boss Jonathan Wafula confirmed the incident. He said the man slashed his wife with a machete killing her on the spot.
“The suspect will face various counts including murder, arson, and attempted murder. He will definitely be arraigned in court after he recuperates and doctors declare him fit to stand trial,” Wafula said in a telephone interview.
The case, is the recent in a spate of crimes of passion where lovers are killing their partners after disagreements.
