Hundreds of residents have left over ten centres in Garba-Tula as tension piles up following the killing of an elderly woman and two of her grandchildren by herders.
The rival sides of Auliyan from Lagdera area in Garissa County and the Borana of Isiolo County have had a long history of bloody clashes that can be traced back to the 1980s.
Their frequent clashes are sparked off whenever herders from the Garissa side shift to Isiolo in search of pastures and water for their herds during the dry periods.
The relationship between the two conflicting sides got worse in May following several incidences of cattle-rustling and criminal acts along watering points and grazing fields.
The conflict between the warring groups reached a new low on Thursday last week when an elderly woman and two children were brutally murdered.
