Fear has gripped Limuru Town residents after a dead body of a  middle-aged man was found inside an abandoned vehicle at  Limuru market on Tuesday.

According to the police, the body of the man was found in the vehicle by loaders.

The middle-aged man only identified as Morris was said to be a loader at the market.

“We have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the death and we will communicate once the probe is over, Kiambu County Commander Adiel Nyange told journalists on Wednesday.

Nyange said that that they are investigating to establish whether the man was killed and his body dumped in the abandoned van or whether he died while in the van.

According to the owner of the van, he received a call from loaders informing him that a man had been found dead in his vehicle.

Locals have complained of deteriorating security in the recent days and urged the police to intervene.

Reacting to the incident. Limuru MP Peter Mwathi pleaded with security agencies to heighten security.

Mwathi said that crime is slowly rising up in Limuru and adjacent areas.

“Security agencies must pull up their socks and guarantee the safety of residents,” he said as quoted by a local daily.
