The officer in charge of public health in Mombasa has confirmed that at least fifteen cases of cholera have been reported in the county.
The areas mostly affected are Likoni and Kisauni, where a woman and two children were admitted at Mrima Health Center, four cases reported in Changamwe and six cases reported in Kisauni.
The doctors attending to the patients confirmed that they had signs of cholera and they complained of headache and stomach pains which are the main symptoms of cholera.
However, Likoni sub county commissioner Rose Chege issued orders directing administration officers within the sub county to ensure the residential places are cleaned up to avoid further spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, doctors from Vijiweni have pitched tents outside Mirima Health Center to provide special treatment to handle the situation.
