Fears have gripped Mirera estate in Naivasha, after the body of a man who works as a water vendor was exhumed with his private parts and tongue severed.
The deceased went missing last week under unclear circumstances before area residents stumbled on his grave in the densely populated area.
Emotions ran high as police and members of the public moved in to exhume the partially decomposing body before ferrying it to the local mortuary.
A witness, Austin Njoroge, said the water vendor who was living alone disappeared on Saturday and efforts to trace him had been futile.
Njoroge said that according to initial investigations, unknown people came to the home of the deceased and left with him.
”The neighbors claim he left with two men on Saturday evening and that was the last time he was seen with efforts to trace him fruitless,” he said.
His disappearance saw area residents and workmates embark on a major operation which led them to the shallow grave.
A senior police officer who declined to be named confirmed the incident saying that investigations had started though no arrest had been made.
”The victim does not have some body parts and we shall be questioning several people as part of the ongoing investigations,” said the officer.
