Saturday morning witnessed protests in Kabete, Kiambu County, after the disappearance of an area parliamentary aspirant.
This comes after Charles Chege alias 'Chege Fresh' went missing on Friday night while his car was later found with bullet holes in Gitaru.The irate residents held demonstrations along Gitaru-Wangige Road where they burnt old tires and demanded the police to expedite Chege's search.
According to reports, the aspirant who is contesting for the Jubilee ticket was kidnapped on Friday evening just moments after a meeting to strategise the launching of his manifesto which was to happen today Sunday at Kanjeru Stadium.
His white Toyota Prado was discovered dumped at Gitaru near the Rungiri Dam.
Security officers also recovered two spent bullet cartridges from the scene.
After receiving information and handing himself over to police, his driver was interrogated by area detectives under Kabete OCPD Joseph Ongaya.
Mr Ongaya said that police received information from area residents who called police to report a 3am shooting in the area.
This is the second time Chege is battling for the Kabete seat after he lost the Jubilee ticket to Ferdinand Waititu during the 2015 by-election.
