A parents association chairman in Nyamira, Vincent Mbura, has criticised heads of schools in the county for increasing school fees.
Addressing the press in Nyamira town on Tuesday, Mr Mbura said the increment was illegal as it has not been approved by the Education Ministry.
He said he would challenge the Ministry of Education in the county to intervene and reverse the development.
Mr Mbura asked parents in the county to pay school fees depending on the guidelines provided by the Ministry.
"The principals are doing contrary to the guidelines that govern basic education," he said.
"All of us must be involved in any action taken as far as reviewing school fees is concerned. If they will effect the new fee structure, am prepared with my lawyers to seek judicial redress to the matter early next year."
He added: "I ask parents to ignore any attempt to be charged more that what they have been paying."
